Chaucer Barn Wedding Photography
Maxime and Valérie are both French but live and work in the UK. French law dictates that you can only marry in France if you are currently living there so it was decided that the wedding would be held in the UK at the beautiful Chaucer Barn near Holt. The vast majority of guests were, as you might expect, French, some of whom spoke English and some of whom didn’t. This presented a few challenges now and again on the language front (my schoolboy French really doesn’t go far) but there was normally someone around to help out with a translation and it’s amazing what you can communicate with a smile and a gesture.
The wedding ceremony itself was in two parts – a traditional civil ceremony to cover the legal bit followed by a Humanist ceremony that was conducted by one of Maxime and Valérie’s closest friends. Afterwards it was time for Champagne (naturally) and canapés on the lawn at Chaucer Barn before an early wedding breakfast and a Ceilidh in the evening.
